An excellent secondary grinder for decaf duties

Product: K6
Unknown

I have a La Marzocco Linea Mini with a La Marzocco Pico grinder. It's been a great combination that I've enjoyed using for over a year. I typically have a latte in the morning, and another right after lunch. Recently, I've decided I wanted to have a decaf in the afternoon to lower my caffine intake. The challenge I've run into is the Pico is not a single dose grinder and has high grind retention. The bean hopper is large. You could certainly dump just the amount of beans in the hopper you want, however, the high grind retention in the burrs is harder to address.

The easiest path is to have a second grinder. I didn't want to pony up for another Pico, nor give up the counter space. I instead researched hand grinders and ultimately decided on the KINGrinder K6. I've been using it for a couple months. This is my first hand grinder, so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but it's great. I don't have any qualms with it. It does take some forearm strength. There are enough fine-tune settings on the grinder to dial in espresso, and enough course settings to handle drip coffee. There is certainly much more expensive grinders with improved burrs and specialization in types of coffee, however I don't feel urged to explore - I'm quite content. An additional benefit is it's compact and I can hide it easily on the counter, it's easy to clean and not much to go wrong with it.

The KINGrinder K6 is a great budget primary grinder, or for a "handy" secondary grinder - pun intended. It's reasonable cost and high quality materials should last many years. As long as you're fine with some manual work to grind, then this is a perfect option.
